A History and A Little About Sara Glover

I put myself through College working nights as a waitress. I studied at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit from 1980-84, now called The College for Creative Studies and earned almost all of my BFA. After marriage and a couple of kids I returned to school and completed my BFA in 1990. I set out to set the design world on fire, landing several highly visible jobs as a graphic designer/illustrator/keyliner through the metro Detroit area, and landed at Kmart Corporation in 1990. At Kmart I learned and developed my computer skills on departments like Packaging Design, Product Development, Technical Illustration and Corporate Identity.

In 2002 I left Kmart and began investing in my own business. I bought a beautiful MAC and took some night classes on web design and created my first website www.glovergraphics.us. I have freelanced much around the Metro Detroit area for companies like Leonard Else Design associates, The Tobbman Corporation, Image Builders of Michigan, Hometown living Magazine, The American Laser Centers of Rochester Hills, Impact Marketing, Music Powers, Benedetto's, the Creative Group, CMC Chamber of Commerce and far to many more to name.

I am an active member of the Central Macomb Chamber of Commerce, and the Sterling Heights, Utica, and Shelby Township Chamber of Commerce, and attend weekly networking meetings. I accept design work for CD covers, Menus, Posters, Corporate Identities, Websites, Wall Murals, Product Design, Package Design, Logos, Postcards and Brochures. I am fast, creative, and put my heart and soul into my work. So if you want it done right the first time contact Glover Graphics, and you can't go wrong at:

Somebody once asked me if I was born with talent or if it was nurtured....this was my responce....

I was trained at one of the best schools in my area and also one of the best in this part of the country. Was I creative BEFORE I was trained? I had an desire, a drive and maybe some minor skills before I was trained... But I give all the credit of how my talent has evolved to the teachers I studied under...

It has always been my opinion that creativity comes from the spirit, is nurtured by desire, and if the eye of the beholder sees it as a creative masterpiece so much the better.

Since I make my living by the clients who hire me, my creativity is used to make their dreams come to life, am I prostituting my talent? Maybe. Am I helping to put shoes on the feet of the client whose identity I improve and thus help him make his business a success, through my skills? Maybe. Do I consider myself creative? Sometimes. Does the world around me see me as a creative genius? Probably not. Was I born with talent? Or was it nurtured, developed, stroked to it's fullest potential? The jury is still out on that one.

And then again.... I see both points of view being born with talent born Vs. trained...

My mother was a master at making quilts and crotchet ... she was very prolific at different times in her life at both. The year before she died she took up crocheting with thread and made some 35 pieces... not an easy task, as she suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and the act of picking up her needles gave her much pain... the last piece of work she made she was still working on on her death bed suffering form the ills of cancer... the piece has the most beautiful workmanship I have even sean... so I do think everything in our lives gives us opportunity to grow, to learn, to evolve into the master-craftsman we were meant to be... my mother achieved in her craft because she had the drive and desire to do so... she bloomed in the twilight hours of her life, never had a lesson in her life and she was a master at what she did.

Hello there and welcome to the first edition to my blog...and to the all new Glover Graphics LLC website......... I plan on posting to my blog twice a month so check back often for all the new updates. Mostly the work you will find here on the site are designs I have done in the past 3 years for Glover Graphics.... I plan on posting info here that all my clients will find useful, like how to get a logo trademarked, what printers around town offer the best deals, and products, the usefulness of chambers, local art exhibits and shows, expo happenings and such..... and mainly what I have found around the Macomb County area that I find might be interesting to my readers. I want to thank all my past, present and repeat clients for their continued patronage to Glover Graphics and let them and my reader know I will always try my best to "Make YOU Shine~!!" with my service and dedication to you, my clients. Last of all I want to thank my web designer Mr. Helms for taking a shared vision and making it a reality.
